Bio

Shahina was born in India and moved to the United States in the 1970s. Though she built a career as a pharmacist, her passion for art has remained a constant thread throughout her life. A self-taught artist, Shahina has embraced the freedom to experiment with techniques and cultivate a style that is distinctly her own. She is best known for her work on large canvases, where her expressive brushstrokes transform empty space into vivid compositions. Painting is both a source of joy and a form of meditation for her—a way to quiet the mind and let creativity flow. Her practice spans multiple genres, including abstract, fluid, and realistic art, each piece guided by intuition and emotion in the moment.

Artist statement

To me, a blank wall is an invitation—a canvas waiting to be transformed. I see emptiness as possibility, a space where color and energy can bring life and meaning. My work is inspired by the natural world and the uplifting language it speaks through form and color. In each painting, I strive to capture that vitality, weaving in passion, joy, and positive energy. My hope is that viewers pause with my art long enough to lose themselves in it, to feel a spark of the same inspiration and serenity that I experience while creating.
